2. Categories of Personal Data Processed

Account data

When you register, we collect your email address, full name, organisation name (optional), and phone number (optional). This data is used to manage your account and communicate with you about your events.

Payment data

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full card details. We receive a Stripe payment intent identifier and the payment status. For Stripe's data practices, see stripe.com/privacy.

Audio streams

During a live event, audio from the speaker's microphone is transmitted to our translation infrastructure for real-time processing. Audio streams are not stored or recorded. Processing is transient: audio data exists only in memory for the duration required to produce a translation and is not written to disk, database, or any persistent storage.

Event metadata

We store the event name, scheduled date and time, expected duration, source and target language pairs, and a listener access slug. This data is linked to your account.

Security and access logs

We retain application logs (IP address, request path, timestamp, HTTP status) for security monitoring and abuse prevention. Logs do not include audio content.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

• Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): account data and event metadata are processed to provide the service you have subscribed to.
• Compliance with a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): payment records are retained to comply with Romanian accounting law (Law No. 82/1991).
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): security logs are retained to protect the security and integrity of our systems. Our legitimate interests are not overridden by your interests or fundamental rights in this context.

4. Retention Periods

• Account data: retained until you delete your account or request erasure. After deletion, account data is removed from our primary systems within 30 days.
• Payment records: retained for 10 years from the date of transaction in accordance with Romanian accounting law (Law No. 82/1991, Art. 25).
• Audio streams: not retained. Transient processing only — no audio is written to any persistent storage.
• Security logs: retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.

6. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Our primary infrastructure is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany and Finland, both EU member states. No cross-border transfer concerns arise for data stored or processed on Hetzner infrastructure.

Stripe is based in the United States. Data transfers to Stripe are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as documented in Stripe's Data Processing Agreement.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

• Right of access (Art. 15): you may request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification (Art. 16): you may request correction of inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure (Art. 17): you may request deletion of your data subject to legal retention obligations.
• Right to data portability (Art. 20): you may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to object (Art. 21): you may object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Right to withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@livetranslate.app. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe we have not handled your data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP.

8. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
